Paul Bunyan is a giant. He is also an intelligent man who did great things. Paul caused trouble because of his strength when he was a child. He made the St. Lawrence River, the Great Lakes, and the Grand Canyon when he was an adult.
The book has funny names and interesting words. It?s great how Steven Kellogg describes Paul Bunyan with words like sturdy, smartest, and strongest. There are things called Gumberoos, which means underground ogres. My favorite character is Babe the blue ox because he is sweet and has big brown eyes. I don?t like the Gumberoos because they?re mean and ugly. The pictures are amazing. I like them because they make me laugh. The part when Paul Bunyan and his crew get the best of the Gumberoos is funny. Cream Puff Fatty is showing off his muscles and smiling. Sometimes boys at school do this and it makes me smile.
If you enjoy Tall Tales, go to your local library and check this book out. Read this book and you will wish you were a giant!
