Sadako And The Thousand Paper Cranes is about a girl named Sadako. It takes place in Hiroshima, Japan. She is a gifted runner and loves Peace Day. It is a day in Japan where the people honour those who died because of the atom bomb. Sadako was only two when the atom bomb hit Hiroshima. Millions of people died and most of those who survived got the disease leukemia. Sadako was at her prime when she started to have dizzy spells. Do you want to know more? Then read the book.

Personally I loved the book. I thought it was an excellent book. If you like touching true stories then you'll love it , because it really did happen. There is also a picture book but I didn't like it nearly as much as the novel. They left out most of my favorite part's but the illustrations where beautiful. In Japan they erected a statue in Sadako's honor. Sadako's courage is honored in Japan and it should be in all of our hearts, too.

I recommend it to all age groups. Even adults love it as much as me and I love it a lot. I even heard about a professor reading it to his college class. At the end of the book there wasn't a dry eye in the place. I think that even boys would like it. Grade seven students that are studying Japan should read it.
