This story is about the Popper family and their 12 penguins. The Poppers got their first penguin from the South Pole. Admiral Drake sent a penguin named Captain Cook. Soon the penguin got ill so Mr. Popper wrote to Dr. Smith (the curator of the aquarium in Mammoth City) for advice on caring for the penguin. It turned out Dr. Smith also had a struggling penguin. Dr. Smith thought his penguin was lonely so he sent Mr. Popper his penguin named Greta. Soon after, Greta had ten baby penguins. The penguins liked to do some funny things. They marched together. Two penguins would fight while the others orked. They liked to climb a ladder, walk across a platform, and fall off. The Poppers decided to turn this into an act with music. They got a contract to perform this act all over the United States. Everyone loved the act. Sometimes the penguins would interrupt the other performers during their acts. To learn what happens at their last performance you will have to read this book.
I loved this book because when I read it was so funny. The illustrations were very good. For example, the illustrations of the snow in the Popper's family room to keep the penguins cold were very amusing. My favorite part of the book is the penguins performing because it's silly.
I recommend this book because it is fun to read and I loved it. I recommend this to boys and girls who like funny books. A lot of people in my class have read this book and that is one reason that I read this book. The penguins ruining other penguins acts is very funny to read about because everybody is trying to get them off stage and the penguins are just playing around. I hope you will like this book.
