The Herdmans were crazy because at school in the middle of the night they went and put cigarettes in Smoky the Bear's mouth. The Herdmans were mean to the kids and tried to wash their cat in the washer. The Herdmans stole someone's little brother. Then the Herdmans took the baby home and put tattoos on it's head, and called the baby "The Amazing Tattooed Baby."
I think The Best School Year Ever is a good book because there are funny things throughout the whole book. My favorite part was when the Herdmans went to school at night and they put cigarettes on Smokey the Bear's lap and put fireworks on it's lap too. They put a cigar in it's mouth. This part might make kids laugh. I liked the character of Imogene the best. She was tough, but she gave the blanket back to Howard so she could be nice sometimes.
I think people should read this book because it is funny and is a good book for older children who know how to read.
