Bob Lemmons lived in the west in the 1800's. He had been a slave, but now he's a cowboy.
He goes out looking for wild horses. At night he doesn't make a fire because the horses would smell the smoke in his clothes. The next day he finds them and follows them until a baby horse dies. After that, Bob becomes the leader.
The message in the story is that one person can do a lot.
This book is interesting because I like hot places and the desert. My favorite part was when Bob finds the horse tracks.
Bob reminds me of my brother because he likes to go on adventures.
I recommend this book to people who like horses and adventures and are in grades two through four.
