The title of this book is Number the Stars and the author?s name is Lois Lowry. Number The Stars is about two girls Annemarie and Ellen. The story begins when German soldiers are after the Jews. During the story Ellen and her family get separated and Annemarie?s family helps them. Annemarie and her family let Ellen stay at their house. Later the Germans came inside there house but they didn?t get caught for having Ellen. Then they helped all the Jews to safety to Sweden. Do the Rosen?s make it to Sweden? Do the Rosen?s get to safety were German soldiers can?t find them? You?ll have to read the book to find out what happens.
It was thrilling when Annemarie was on the path! She saw German soldiers and they stopped her. The soldiers went through the basket and found nothing and sent her on her way. I think the book is interesting because Annemarie was brave when her family hid Ellen from the German soldiers. I thought this was thrilling because I thought the Rosens and Johansens were going to get caught and they might have been killed. The Johansens were brave to take the Jews to safety and Sweden. My favorite part of the story is when Kristi tells off the soldiers. There is a character that changed in away and that was Annemarie. In the beginning she was always worried about things and they were things that she wasn?t supposed to be worrying about. Now she?s brave and courageous. Annemarie is willing to risk her life for her friend.
I would recommend this book to people who like World War II. People may like this book because it has excitement in every chapter. You would really like the characters because they play their roles well. Like Kristi for an example, she didn?t care about the German soldiers she just told them what she thought. The setting is at Uncle Henrick?s house and in Copenhagen. Read this book to find out what happens to Annemarie and her family and see if Ellen and the Rosen?s get caught or not.
