The Mystery of the Purple Pool is about four siblings named Benny, Henry, Violet and Jessie. They go to New York City and stay at a hotel called The Plymouth. The children want to swim in the hotel pool but they find that the water is purple! They want to find out why, so they investigate the hotel workers, sneak into rooms, and finally solve the case.
This is a great book. It is suspenseful and funny. You never know who committed the crime. My favorite character is Benny because he is always eating. He also always thinks he can figure out the solution to the mystery, but he never does.
I recommend this book to kids in second through fourth grade who love funny mysteries. It is part of the Boxcar Children series, so kids who enjoy these books will really like The Mystery of the Purple Pool. Gertrude Warner uses juicy words that help you make great pictures in your mind.
